From Doban, we get to Machapuchare Base Camp, which is one stop away from the Annapurna Base Camp. I am tempted to go up to ABC tonight, but Laurie is too tired. We have dinner and are in bed by 5:30pm, as it is cold up here.

Why this place is called Machapuchare Base Camp is unclear as ascents of this mountain are not allowed.
We had been told at the permit check point at Naya Pul (trek start point) that it shouldn’t have reached freezing temperatures up here yet, but the advice we have received from whomever we ask varies from person to person, and there are frozen streams and snow and ice on the ground already. Also, I am starting to get a headache from what I suppose is altitude sickness.
