Day 231 – 20 March 2010: Bargains in Sydney

It would seem the place to go for cheap stuff in Sydney in Paddy’s market near Darling Harbour. Although the name hints of Irish origins, now most of the stalls are run by Asians vendors, and I pick up an oversized suitcase for Aus $30. I should explain that my rucksack zips have decided to seize up. Also I have decided to join Caroline and Mary on a trip to New Zealand for an undetermined period driving around in a camper van. I am not sure they are going to be impressed by newly expanded spacial requirements.

Darling Harbour is a commercialised marina area with expensive looking restaurants, the iMax, and a ‘Chinese Garden’. Incongruously this seems to consist of a decorous outdoor seating area for a McDonalds.

In the evening, I join Just John, Jen and Caz go to the iMax to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D, though I don’t really get the point of the 3D in this film as the talking rabbits didn’t even leap out at us.
